About Seed Starter

Seed Starter began with a simple idea. Growing plants should be easier, more reliable, and more enjoyable.

I’m Ashley Mair, founder of Seed Starter. Like many growers, I’ve always been fascinated by the journey from seed to seedling. Watching a dormant seed come to life never loses its sense of wonder, but I also saw how unpredictable germination could be. Small changes in temperature, moisture, or airflow often meant slow, uneven, or failed germination.

That curiosity became an obsession.

Over the years I designed, tested, and refined countless prototypes, searching for a better way to create stable germination conditions. Every product was developed with one goal: to remove unnecessary guesswork and give growers greater control over the earliest stages of plant growth.

Today, Seed Starter designs and manufactures a modular ecosystem of reusable germination and propagation tools. From passive germination with FlexiGerm to precision heated germination with Heat Pack and interchangeable skins, every product is designed to work independently or as part of the wider Seed Starter Ecosystem.

All Seed Starter products are developed in South Africa, combining practical growing experience with precision engineering and efficient manufacturing to create products built for everyday growers.

What started as a personal project has grown into a company dedicated to helping growers around the world achieve more reliable germination, healthier seedlings, and a better growing experience.
